Rainy Day Fun with Shape Mags

This post is sponsored by Shape Mags. As always, all content and opinions are 100% my own.

My kids love playing outside. Whether it’s playing at the park, riding their bikes, or simply blowing bubbles, we spend a lot of time outside. We are fortunate to live in an area of the country where we can play outside almost year round. We do get our fair share of rain during the summer months though. Luckily, here in SC, we get many more sunny days than rainy ones! But, for those afternoon storms that do pop up, we have to take our playtime inside. Rainy days have been a lot more fun lately though, and that’s because the kids have a new favorite toy, Shape Mags Magnetic Stick N’ Stack Tiles!

What are Shape Mags?

Shape Mags are magnetic building tiles that stick & stack together to create almost any 3-D structure your little engineer can dream up. The tiles come in a variety of shapes and colors – fostering creativity and imagination. Shape Mags offers a variety of building sets & accessories starting at $19.99. My kids absolutely love their Classic Set. And one awesome perk about them is that they are compatible with other major magnetic tile brands! What I love most about Shape Mags is that they teach important STEM skills to preschoolers through play.

What are STEM toys?

STEM toys aim to teach children through four specific disciplines – science, technology, engineering, and math. Because STEM toys are open-ended, the playtime possibilities are endless. I have read countless articles written by teachers about the importance of STEM education both in and outside of the classroom. These toys not only teach children to be critical thinkers, but problem-solvers as well. STEM toys are even more important than ever in order for our children to thrive in today’s tech-savvy world.

In addition to rainy day play, Shape Mags are also a great quiet time activity for my 4 year old. Noah will sit and play with his Shape Mags for a solid hour while his little sister naps during the afternoon. He enjoys building houses, towers, vehicles, and even race car tracks with them! In fact, as I sit here and write this, he is upstairs in his playroom building a school bus with his tiles.

My 2 year old, London, loves Shape Mags, too! As soon as she saw her big brother playing with them she jumped right in and started building her own creation. I was quite surprised by how quickly she was able to figure the tiles out and start building with them.

Clearly, both kids equally love Shape Mags! And this mama loves that these will grow with my kids and be played with for years to come!

Do your kids enjoy STEM toys? What are your go-to rainy day activities?

xo,

Sumer
