DIY BB8 Pumpkin

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away there lived two Star Wars loving kiddos and a mom who was determined to make their Halloween dreams come true with their very own DIY BB8 PUMPKIN!

This just may be my most favorite DIY project to date, y’all! I won’t sugar coat it and say it was easy, but it was certainly loads of fun and totally got my creativity flowing again. I think I spent about 6-7 hours on BB8 in total, but I have to say it was totally worth it to see their reaction when it was all done!

Supplies Needed
  • Medium and small craft pumpkins
  • White spray paint (matte finish is preferred)
  • Acrylic paint (orange, silver & black gloss)
  • Black & silver Sharpie markers and/or paint pens
  • (2) Paper straws
  • Hot glue gun
  • Tools: knife (to cut stems off), scissors, small pins, paint brushes & pencil
How-To

The full tutorial I used for our DIY BB8 Pumpkin can be found over on Disney Rewards, including the free templates needed to create the unique patterns on BB8’s body. Note: there isn’t a template for everything. You’ll definitely need to do some free-hand drawing/painting to complete BB8’s look; however, the templates provide you with a great start!

I found the tutorial to be very easy to follow while still allowing for my own creativity!

And of course we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to take part in a fun Star Wars themed photo shoot before we headed out to trick-or-treat!

Note: London’s Rey inspired dress is from the incredible Taylor Joelle Designs.

Poe (who has just taken flight in his X-wing), along with Rey & BB8 are officially ready to save the galaxy now!

And may the force be with you this Halloween…
