Do you have a budding reader in your home? With a rising 1st grader and a little one headed into Pre-K, we can never have enough books around here! I like to try and keep things fun when it comes to reading at home, so lately we’ve been stopping at our neighborhood’s little library during our evening walks. Because we are continuously adding more books to our home collection, I like to encourage them to donate some of their books they have outgrown to our neighborhood’s library. The kids learn to pay it forward while having fun “swapping” out their books each week!

As a preschool teacher, literacy is incredibly important to me. When I first read about Kellogg’s Feeding Reading Program on the box of my son’s favorite Eggo Blueberry waffles, I was instantly intrigued. Kellogg’s mission is to get more books into the hands of young readers while fueling them with a wholesome Kellogg’s breakfast. With back-to-school season quickly approaching, now is the perfect time to stock up on your favorite Eggo waffles for those busy school mornings ahead. They are fast, filling & portable! Triple win for moms!

How does Kellogg’s Feeding Reading Program work?

It’s really pretty simple. 1 box = 1 free book.

Purchase any Eggo product (during the promotional window) and get a FREE Penguin Random House book – you can choose to keep the book for your child or donate it! Pretty cool, right?!

Read below to see how you can easily redeem your credits for free books:

  • Purchase any participating Eggo product by Sept. 30th
  • Snap a photo of your receipt(s) with Eggo waffle purchases. Log in to Kellogg’s Family Rewards® and upload your receipt. One important note: Each receipt must be submitted separately as well as within 30 days of purchase.
  • Redeem your credits for a Penguin Random House book of your choice (limit of 10 books). Credits must be redeemed by December 1st, 2019.

This back to school season, head to your local Walmart and find Eggo products in the breakfast section of the freezer department. With a wide variety to choose from, there’s a perfect Eggo waffle for everyone!

I told y’all I was serious about stocking up for back-to-school, right?! 😉

How can I set up a little library in my own neighborhood?

Whether you choose to show off your DIY woodworking skills or purchase a prebuilt library, the sky’s the limit when it comes to the structure of your little library. It just needs to be large enough to hold several books. Think about the ideal location – is it your front yard or common area within your neighborhood?

With the help of Kellogg’s Feeding Reading Program, filling your library is even easier! The more boxes of Eggo waffles you purchase, the more free books you can stock your little library with. Fill up your library even faster by spreading the word to your friends and family and encourage them to pay it forward by donating their free books to help grow your little library.

And most importantly, get the word out about your little library and encourage kids in your local community to love reading!
