Super Easy, Inexpensive DIY Sandbox
Looking for a simple summer time activity for your toddler or preschooler? Put together this super easy, inexpensive DIY sandbox in minutes for less than $15!
Supplies Needed:
A large tote w/ lid (ours is a 56 qt.); $4.99
50 lb. bag of play sand; $4.99
Sand toys; $0-5
Total Cost $10-15
{You may already have sand toys lying around that you can use. If not, Dollar Tree, Walmart, & Target are great places to purchase inexpensive sand toys}
That’s all you need to throw together this mobile DIY sandbox. We bring ours out into our yard for sunny days, but if it’s raining and your kiddos still want to play in the sand, just move it onto your covered patio or porch, and you’re all set!
I had originally made this sandbox as a “treasure chest” for my son’s pirate themed 3rd birthday party last summer; however, I’m so glad I decided to hang on to it as both my kids absolutely LOVE it. They play with it almost every single day, and my 15 month old even likes to sit inside π

My 3 yr old would love this, I can also make it a “where’s Waldo” type of sand box, he can find goodies for me π

Great idea!

This is such a great idea! My kids love to play in the sand, but I hate leaving sand boxes outside…. we have too many critters running around, even if I did get one with a lid. This is perfect and portable!
